I hope you had a chance to listen to the podcast series, Toxic Lawn!, which spanned 8 episodes. If not, I encourage you to tune in. It’s just incredible how many of us just blindly follow what the advertising tells us about our lawns. I’ve seen lots of folks in my area walking back and forth over their lawns, with a lawn spreader releasing “weed and feed” products, which are mixtures of a single type of grass seed, along with a very toxic herbicide (2,4-D, which was a component of the deadly Agent Orange sprayed throughout the jungle during the Vietnam War) and chemical fertilizers. Hardly anyone reads the label instructions (I know this because no one is wearing gloves, no one is wearing a respirator to keep away fumes and most folks have shorts on). Check out episode 2 about 2,4-D and maybe you’ll discontinue this step of your lawn care. You’ll improve your health and you’ll save time and money.
